AeroSpeak × ICAO Cir 323 & Doc 9835
Chapter-by-chapter alignment of the AeroSpeak platform with ICAO Circular 323 (AN/185) — Guidelines for Aviation English Training Programmes — and ICAO Doc 9835 (Manual on the Implementation of ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements). Published for procurement teams at airlines, approved training organisations (ATOs) and civil aviation authorities.
AeroSpeak — including its Mock ICAO Exam — is a preparation and self-assessment tool aligned with ICAO Doc 9835 and Circular 323. It is not an official ICAO Language Proficiency licensing examination and does not replace evaluations conducted by CAA-approved rating bodies. Compliance statements below describe alignment of platform capabilities, not certification.
Chapter 1 — Programme design & development
Read-back, Weather, GSE, Unexpected Situations, ATC scenarios (100+ across all flight phases).
Speaking, Broader Context, AI Tutor, role-based voices (pilot ↔ ATCO).
Unexpected Situations module + AI-driven plain-language prompts beyond standard phraseology.
Realtime AI Tutor with role-play; interaction is one of six ICAO holistic descriptors ALI™ scores.
Each module maps to an operational task (departure, en-route, emergency, ground ops).
Chapter 2 — Curriculum, materials & assessment (Doc 9835 alignment)
Onboarding role selection (Pilot / ATCO / Dispatcher) → adaptive learning plan from ALI™ engine.
All six holistic descriptors — Pronunciation, Structure, Vocabulary, Fluency, Comprehension, Interactions — scored 1–6.
Per-session evidence, weakness detection, personalised recommendations via ALI™.
ICAO Competency Radar™ with drift analysis, weekly trends, confidence intervals.
Five-part Mock Exam mirroring evaluator workflow.
Explicit in-product and landing-page notice; separate section below.
Chapter 3 — Instructor & rater qualifications
Profile fields for issuing CAA, license No., rating, valid-until date and calibration notes (Settings → Instructor Credentials).
Instructor Command Center: cohort view, risk alerts, notes, evidence trail.
ALI™ applies consistent Doc 9835 rubric to every session; human calibration workshops are the customer's responsibility.
Chapter 4 — Quality management, documentation & security
Executive Reporting Center → branded PDF/Excel Audit Evidence packages, stateless report derivation, retention via evaluations table.
Multi-tenant RLS at the database layer, hashed API keys, HMAC-signed webhooks, SSO (SAML 2.0 / OIDC).
Alert & Intervention Center transforms ALI signals into tracked workflows (Open → In-Progress → Resolved) with audit trail.
ALI™ scoring reference
The ALI™ (Aeronautical Language Intelligence) engine evaluates every session against the six holistic descriptors of the ICAO Doc 9835 Rating Scale (Appendix A): Pronunciation, Structure, Vocabulary, Fluency, Comprehension and Interactions. Scores are normalised to the ICAO 1–6 scale and traceable to the source utterance through the platform's evidence trail.
